AccesSportAmerica Sports Camp: Guatemala
AccesSportAmerica weeklong soccer camp in January for Guatemalans with and without disabilities takes place in the lake Atitlan region. Partnering with Camp Kikotimaal, AccesSport Instructors bring their soccer expertise to close to 20 athletes with various disabilities during the morning sessions. We run, kick and push chairs through the heavy dirt of the field. In the afternoons, we teach close to 200 children, ages 5-12. The field we play on was literally on top of the former village that had been buried by the giant -mudslide in 2006. All the children now live in shelters with their families. We bring soccer balls, cleats and jerseys which we leave with local schools.
